how to choose your nozzle size

Product number: info

Nozzle set selection Nozzle sets are available in a range of sizes to suit different product flow rates. For low flow rates or low-viscosity products, choose a small nozzle. For high flow rates or high-viscosity products, choose a larger nozzle. For best atomization, use the nozzle that delivers the required flow when the trigger is fully depressed (a partially open needle can produce an irregular spray).Paint viscosity measurement
  1. Thin paint according to the instructions on the container. Be sure to use a thinner that is compatible with the product being used. In the absence of instructions, the general rule is 5 to 15 % of thinner.
(up to 35 % for precision finishing).
  1. Stir the paint thoroughly and filter.
  2. Use the viscosity cup to measure the product as follows:
  3. a) Immerse the Lemmer Ford #4 viscosity cup in the paint.
  4. b) Take the cup out of the paint and start timing.
  5. c) Stop the timer as soon as the continuous flow of paint stops for the first time.d) The time recorded corresponds to the viscosity of the paint.
  6. Then consult the nozzle table and choose the one that corresponds to the viscosity range of your product (under «type of material»).
Note: This table has been designed with the greatest possible precision. However, not all paints will conform exactly to it, due to variations in components. Nevertheless, it provides an excellent starting point for learning the basics of spraying.
